From the Goldridge soils, the 2004 Pinot Noir La Brisa Kanzler Vineyard possesses attractive plum, Allspice, underbrush, sweet cherry, strawberry, cola, and floral notes. This complex, medium to full-bodied, earthy, fleshy Pinot is meant to be drunk over the next 3-4 years. This up-and-coming estate is aiming to produce 5,000 cases of single vineyard Pinot Noirs from cool climate sites in northern California as well as the Santa Rita Hills region northwest of Santa Barbara. Good deep red. Tight, pure aromas of strawberry and smoky oak. Supple, silky and dense, with plenty of body and sweet red fruit flavors. Tannins are rather suave. Here, too, I hoped to find a bit more nuance but the texture is very inviting.
