Tasting notes
Cabernet Sauvignon. Straightforward, ripe-fruit nose. Spicy black cherries – attractive fruit – and then it falls off a little on the lightly astringent end. (JR)

Notes of scorched coffee, brown sugar and concentrated black cherries appear on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard. From this prized Rutherford vineyard, this is a bold, dark-toned effort, full-bodied and muscular yet velvety, with a rich, chocolate-and-mocha finish.
From a heritage vineyard in Rutherford, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard is all Cabernet Sauvignon that saw 22 months in new French oak. Beautiful red, blue, and black fruits as well as classic Cabernet herbal, cedar, and Pauillac-like lead pencil notes flow to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated, yet incredibly elegant 2019 that does everything right. Drink it over the coming 15-20 years.
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Morisoli Vineyard is a tannic behemoth. Deep and potent, the 2019 is packed with dark fruit, herbs, leather, chocolate and spice. There is an element of reduction here and also hints of rusticity that are not found in any other Amici Cabernets. I like the depth here, but something about the wine's balance is off. Morisoli is a privileged spot in Rutherford. This wine could have and should have been better. A lot better.
