With aromatics of ripe mixed berries followed by a palate of dark berry and tobacco, this Syrah offers a succulent mid palate with mouth-watering acidity followed by an ultra-long, lightly drying finish. There is nice freshness here, with melting tannin. The wine should develop well with a few years. (ECB)

Similarly styled, the 2009 Syrah Estate offers ample white pepper, dried meats, spice and ground herbs to go with a medium-bodied, chewy, rustic feel on the palate. As with the 2008, the tannin is slightly dry, but everything stays reasonably well put together and it’s a solid wine with loads of character. Drink it over the coming 4-5 years. Tel. The 2009 Syrah Estate Vineyard shows the wilder side of the grape in its red cherries, black pepper, spices and herbs. Medium in body, it possesses good balance and energy through to the finish.

Bright purple. Youthfully wound-up aromas of blackberry, mulberry and violet, plus a strong note of licorice. Deeply pitched dark fruit flavors are given an exotic character by notes of violet pastille and star anise. Supple and expansive on the firm, gripping, intensely spicy finish. This textbook syrah should age well.
