Score 87/100 · Drink 2008-2010, Robert Parker, Jun 2008

Some of the 2006 vintage’s challenges are apparent in Samsara’s 2006 Syrah Verna’s Vineyard. Slightly herbal, lean, and austere, it resembles a so-so vintage of a French St.-Joseph rather than a classic Santa Barbara County Syrah. It exhibits a chalky minerality along with attractive, herbaceous, red cherry and red currant notes as well as good freshness and medium body. Drink it over the next 1-2 years. Tel. (805) 331-2292
