Tasting notes
The 2021 Stonessence is a bit coy in the glass, smoldering up with a blend of grilled herbs, dried citrus and blackberries complicated by smoky mineral tones. This impresses further with a mix of sweet and savory as ripe black fruits and salty minerals cascade throughout, taking on a more tactile feel as hints of sour citrus build beneath violet and lavender airs. The Stonessence leaves the mouth watering for more, despite its power and girth, finishing perfumed and long with a bitter blackberry tinge.

The 2021 Syrah Stonessence is gorgeous, and certainly up with the crème de la crème of the vintage. Ripe blue fruits, red plums, peppery herbs, lavender, and some meaty notes all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a supple, elegant, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. This powerful yet seamless, elegant Syrah will shine for at least 15 years.
