Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Smoky cherry and dark berry scents are complicated by notes of dried rose and rhubarb. Sweet black raspberry and cherry-cola flavors pick up a hint of bitter chocolate with air and show very good depth. Dusty tannins give firm grip to the finish, with the cherry and floral notes echoing.

Bright and perfumed, with notions of crushed berries, blueberry, violets, toasted spice and chocolate, the 2011 Pinot Noir Rita’s Crown offers up a rocking palate that carries medium-bodied richness, notable purity and a layered, character-filled personality. Drink 2014-2021. A relatively new project that was created in 2009, this is a serious lineup of high quality Pinot Noirs. Tel. (707) 933-4440; www.waltwines.com
