Tasting notes
(vinified with 50% whole clusters and aged in 20% new puncheons): Bright medium ruby. Alluring high-pitched scents of crushed cherry, violet and lavender. Intensely flavored and quite suave, with its red fruit and spice flavors enlivened by a mineral component. Finishes with a fine dusting of building tannins and terrific rising length. Sexy, seamless wine; the pH here is 4.0 but the wine's floral and spice elements give it excellent inner-mouth lift.

The 2015 Syrah Black Label les Collines looks to be outstanding. Loaded with notions of black pepper, crushed violets, lavender and assorted black fruits, it's medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and pure, with lots of texture and a great finish. It has good to moderate acidity, ripe tannin and should benefit from short-term cellaring.
