Good deep red. Very expressive, pure nose of dark cherry, blackberry, violet, licorice and bitter chocolate; a real essence of Vaucrains. Then big and broad but not overly sweet, with fruit-driven flavors of cassis and blackberry. A serious but rather suave style, expanding on the back end and finishing with a fine dusting of tannins. The vines here range from 20 to 60 years of age.
