Score 92+/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Sep 2014

(Pillot produced just two barrels in 2012, vs. a normal eight): Healthy pale yellow. Terrific stony complexity to the pure aromas of lemon, flowers and toast, along with a hint of noble reduction. Intensely flavored and densely packed, offering terrific penetration to the pineapple and quinine flavors. Classically dry and minerally on the aftertaste. Some of these 2012s finished with as much as 4.5 grams per liter of acidity, noted Pillot.

Lovely high-pitched aromas of grapefruit, crushed stone and white flowers; showing more obvious terroir character today than the 2011 version. At once rich and energetic, offering complex flavors of grapefruit, white peach, ginger, quinine and saline iodiney minerality. Finishes ripe, lively and very long. Superb potential here.
