Tasting notes
As with the La BAM, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad has closed up considerably since release. Nevertheless, it has incredible aromatics of cassis and currant fruits, some lead pencil and floral nuances, full-bodied richness, and a tight, concentrated, focused style on the palate that needs another 4-5 years of bottle age.

Carter's 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad is a dark, somber wine. Graphite, crushed rocks, lavender, crème de cassis and dark spice are boldly sketched. The Verdad is both more minerally and riper than the Bam, most likely because of the greater stress in this part of the vineyard.
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Las Piedras Vineyard La Verdad has a very deep purple-black color and reveals slightly subdued, youthful notes of crushed blueberries, warm black cherries and mulberries with hints of blackcurrant cordial, stewed black tea, wilted roses and fragrant soil. Wow—the palate explodes with very primary yet incredibly exciting, densely packed muscular black fruits, framed with a brick house of super ripe tannins and seamless freshness, finishing very long and incredibly cerebral. Yes, yes, yes!
