Medium red. Enticing bouquet of black raspberry, minerals, smoke, fresh herbs and incense. The palate offers lovely intensity and sweetness without weight, with a sappy edge of acidity framing and lifting the black fruit and spice flavors. This really shows the dark fruit side of the vintage. Finishes with lush tannins and excellent persistence.

Bright medium red. Chambolle-like aromas of flowers, minerals, white pepper and menthol. Sweet, lush and quite ripe, with good mineral grip framing the red and darker berry flavors. Not the last word in complexity but a very nicely delineated fruit bomb with a supple finish. From destemmed fruit.
Nicolas Potel's négociant wine. 'No chaptalisation and no filtration therefore the most natural wines we've made for years. Some winemakers make a comparison with 2003 – but there were more than 100 days between flowering and picking in 2007 and 2008. 2007 was less delicate than we thought; I was tempted to bottle in September but found the wines were not ready.' Scented and zesty. Good bright fruit and some sweetness but dry on the finish. Lots of dry tannins. Pretty tough at the moment. (JR)
