Score 89/100 · Drink 2005-2008, Robert Parker, Dec 2005

This is one of the few California estates that continues to work with Sangiovese, which for the most part, has fallen out of favor. While California Sangioveses rarely complete with those from Italy in either price or quality, Staglin’s 2004 Stagliano offers lovely sweet strawberry, new saddle leather, berry, herb, spice, and earthy/underbrush notes along with decent acidity and medium body. It should be enjoyed over the next 2-3 years. Tel. (707) 963-1749; Fax (707) 944-0535
