Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2005 First Growth Cabernet Sauvignon presents evolving notes of blackberry preserves, dried roses, potpourri and blackcurrant cordial with chocolate, spice and a whiff of dried mint. Full-bodied, rich and concentrated, it has medium-firm, very fine tannins, a vibrant acid line and a very long finish. Drink now to 2025+. No known USA importer.

Inky purple. Deep red- and blackcurrant, cherry, iron and tobacco aromas, with complicating cigar box and smoked meat qualities. Concentrated cassis and bitter cherry flavors are underscored by strong mineral and cured tobacco notes. Really clings to the palate, leaving energetic dark fruit flavors behind. No way I'd open this youthfully tannic wine for at least another five years.
