Tasting notes
The Chassagne-Montrachet Les Vergers had a completely reticent nose the day I visited the estate. On the palate however, this outstanding wine offers a ripe, rich, medium-to-full-bodied, and oily-textured personality stacked with loads of minerals, stones and metals. Well-balanced and crafted, it should attain its peak by 2001 and hold it through 2005. Ripe, fruity aromas of pear and peach. Sweet, fresh peach and pear flavors; has enough flesh to support sound acids. Expressive, nicely balanced wine, showing well early.
