Tasting notes
First made in 2016, the Hideaway Vineyard is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, drawn from six blocks of the estate plantings, all on red volcanic soils. The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Hideaway Vineyard boasts lovely floral notes, deep raspberry and cassis fruit, plus intriguing hints of mocha and earth on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated and richly textured, finishing long and velvety.

Lastly, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Hideaway Vineyard is similarly hued, with a dense purple hue as well as remarkable purity in its cassis, chalky mineral, liquid violet, espresso, and graphite aromas and flavors. It's dense and concentrated, with incredible extract and power, and has building tannins, background oak, and a monster of a finish. It's not for the instant gratification crowd and will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age. As with the flagship release here, two to three decades of longevity are not out of the question.
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Hideaway is one of the most potent wines I have tasted in this range. Firm, searing tannins wrap around a core of dark red fruit. Spice, cedar, leather, tobacco and incense build into the huge, substantial finish. Since it was first produced in 2016, the Hideaway has emerged as the new flagship wine here.
