Tasting notes
The 2014 Syrah Susan's Hill is a more plush, rounded and soft vintage for this cuvee that offers tons of jammy blackberries, cassis, licorice, chalky minerality and violet aromas and flavors. It has solid underlying tannin, as well as a good mid-palate, and it's a broad, supple and rich Syrah to drink through 2024.

(aged in 50 percent new French oak) Dark purple. A complex, expansive bouquet displays scents of dark berry preserves, potpourri and smoky Indian spices, energized by a mineral nuance. Sappy, palate-staining blackberry, blueberry and violet pastille flavors show outstanding depth and vivacity. Five-spice powder and vanilla nuances build steadily with air but don't get in the way of the exuberant fruit. A strikingly persistent, gently tannic finish strongly echoes the floral and mineral qualities and shows no rough edges.
