Tasting notes
The 2012 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard (from Sonoma) merits inclusion in this report. Like all of Tor’s Chardonnays, it was bottled without fining or filtration. Honeysuckle, unbuttered popcorn, quince, white currant, apple and peach blossom characteristics are present in this white wine along with terrific fruit intensity, full body, good acidity and a long finish. There is even some wet gravel-like minerality to add complexity. It should drink well for 5-6 years.

The 2012 Chardonnay Durell Vineyard is a wine of pure breadth. Almonds, hazelnuts, honey, licorice and nectarines all flesh out in the glass. The style is rich, oily and all about texture. Layers of fruit built to the huge, layered finish. All the elements are in the right place. The personality of these old Wente clones comes through loud and clear.
