(includes 3% mixed blacks; 15.5% alcohol): Inky ruby. A highly aromatic bouquet displays scents of fresh black and blue fruits, floral pastilles and peppery spices. Shockingly lithe and precise for its heft, offering vibrant blueberry and licorice pastille flavors and a jolt of smoky minerals. This really stains the palate. Smoothly marries power and vivacity and finishes sweet, gently tannic and very long.
Layers of blue/purplish fruit meld into graphite, gravel, licorice and violets in the 2012 Zinfandel Bedrock Vineyard. This is a decidedly dark, juicy Zinfandel endowed with tons of power and richness. Suave and silky on the palate, the 2012 finishes with notable depth and polish. Even with all of the intensity, the tannins remain nicely balanced throughout.
