Score 91/100 · Drink 2009-2017, Robert Parker, Aug 2009

The leaner, more austere 2007 Pinot Noir Clone 115 Indigene exhibits lots of red and black fruits interwoven with notions of crushed rocks, earth, and forest floor. It should evolve for 7-8 years or longer. Melville’s six Pinot Noir cuvees are all noteworthy. With the exception of the Verna’s Vineyard wines, which come from Los Alamos, the other five are all made from different parcels of the same vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills, with various density of plantings as well as clonal choices.
