Tasting notes
Full red-ruby. Highly aromatic nose combines black- and redcurrant, red licorice, tobacco and flowers. Broad, silky and suave but also with lovely energy to its lush wave of bright berry and chocolate flavors. Insidious sweetness is nicely leavened by balancing acidity. Classy, seamless wine, finishing with supple tannins, good lift and grip, and lingering floral and spicy perfume.

Alpha Omega's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Georges III sits somewhere between the straight Cabernet bottling and the best of the To Kalon wines. It has the poise and balance of the former but the fleshiness of the latter. Hints of mocha, expressive rosemary and spices flesh out in a wine that captures the personality of the year and this site with notable eloquence.

I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted from Alpha Omega this year. The estate’s Cabernets are rich and full-bodied, yet also express plenty of site-specific character. Tel. (707) 302-1124
