Tasting notes
The 2015 Pinot Noir Niclaire has a medium to deep ruby-purple color and fragrant nose of black cherries, roses and violets with hints of cumin seed, cinnamon and cloves, plus an earthy waft of underbrush. Medium to full-bodied, with a lovely firm backbone of grainy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the generous, perfumed flavors, it finishes with great length.

There's 400 cases of the 2015 Pinot Noir Niclaire and it comes from a multitude of sites spread from the Santa Lucia Highlands to the Sta. Rita Hills. It was completely destemmed, fermented in stainless steel and spent 12 months in 50% new French oak. Black raspberries, dried cranberries, wild strawberries and floral, minty notes all emerge from this silky, beautifully polished, elegant Pinot Noir. I love its tannin quality, and while it has plenty of fruit, it stays graceful and elegant, with solid length. Terrific stuff.
