Score 88/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2010
(from a vineyard next to Conn Creek planted with the Grace clone) Good medium ruby. Slightly medicinal aromas of blackberry, licorice and pepper complicated by a rocky quality. Chewy, chunky black fruit, pepper and espresso flavors convey a distinctly austere character for a 2007. Spreads out nicely to coat the palate on the back end, but the tongue-dusting tannins seem a bit dry. I wanted a bit more refinement.
