Tasting notes
Lots of juicy red and black plums, cigar, flowery incense, and violet notes emerge from the 2020 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch, a solid 2020 offering plenty of sweet fruit, a medium-bodied, layered mouthfeel, a small hole in the mid-palate, and a decent finish. This charming effort is best drunk in its youth. While many of these wines fall outside the “Central Coast,” I was able to taste a full lineup from Ridge and am happy to include these wines here. Going forward, the Sonoma releases will be covered by my colleague, Audrey Frick.

The 2020 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch is a terrific wine for the year. Dark red cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco, licorice and dried fruits all run through this fleshy, racy Zinfandel from one of Sonoma's very finest sites. Plush and yet not quite as ample Pagani Zinfandels can be, the 2020 is an exceptional effort for the vintage. All the elements are so well balanced.
