Tasting notes
The 2001 Fume Blanc Reserve To-Kalon Vineyard (a 3,000-case cuvee of 96% Sauvignon Blanc and 4% Semillon that's 100% barrel-fermented) is a crisp, fragrant, delicate, medium-bodied effort displaying gorgeous aromas of liquid minerals intermixed with fig, melon, and citrus characteristics. It is not put through malolactic, and consequently possesses zesty acidity as well as delineation. Drink it over the next several years. Tel. (707) 226-1395 and (800) MONDAVI; fax (707) 251-4386

(fermented and aged in barriques, 20% new) Ripe aromas of lemon drop and grapefruit, with hints of spicy oak and more exotic fruits. Exotic flavors of orange blossom and toasty, spicy oak. Finishes oaky and long, with grapefruit and spice notes and a more phenolic texture than the Stags Leap sauvignon.
