Tasting notes
Medium ruby, the 2018 Zinfandel Jackass Hill is youthfully coiled at this stage. It takes time in the glass to open to apricots, saline, tea leaves, red berries and stone, offering up more perfume as it sits in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied and silky, saline on entry and fleshing out to perfumed fruits. It has addicting freshness and finishes very long and layered. Only 90 cases were made this year.

The 2018 Zinfandel Jackass Hill is a gorgeous, totally exotic wine. Wild flowers, sweet dried cherry, mint, pine, star anise and spice give the Hill so much aromatic intensity. Powerful and yet weightless, the 2018 is just captivating. Silky tannins add to the wine's exotic allure. Martinelli's Jackass Hill Zinfandel remains one of the most distinctive wines in California.
About the producer

Martinelli is a Sonoma benchmark for vineyard-designate bottlings—wines built to highlight how strongly a single site can shape Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Across the range, the focus stays consistent: small-production bottlings that feel distinctly tied to where they’re grown.
