Score 18/20 · Drink 2007-2015, Jancis Robinson MW, Nov 2002

Floral yet rich nose. One of the finer, more refined Bienvenues. Sleek. Perhaps very slightly lacking subtlety and still quite astringent but this should grow into a very pretty bottle. At the moment it finishes rather suddenly. (JR)

Year in and year out, Etienne Sauzet produces two and a half barrels of Bienvenue-Batard-Montrachet and 2000 is no different. It sports fresh mineral and floral aromas, a medium body, and a concentrated, profound character. It is intense, coating the palate with minerals, and displays loads of delineation and purity. Anticipated maturity: 2003-2012. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802
