Vivid ruby. Sexy, high-pitched aromas of black raspberry, Indian spices, incense and candied violet carry an intense mineral overtone. Sweet, seamless and energetic on the palate, offering spice-laced red and dark berry and floral pastille flavors that expand steadily with air. Finishes with impressive tenacity and focus, leaving juicy dark berry and floral notes behind.

A blend of 39% Mourvèdre, 29% Grenache, 18% Syrah, 11% Counoise and 3% Tannat, the 2015 En Gobelet features a medium garnet-purple color and nose of crushed black cherries, raspberry tart and plums with fragrant earth, bay leaves, garrigue and fungi hints. Medium to full-bodied, it fills the palate with juicy red and blue fruit flavors, complemented by earthy accents and a chewy grip, finishing long and lively. 890 cases were made.

The 2015 En Gobelet (39% Mourvèdre, 29% Grenache, 18% Syrah and the rest Counoise and Tannat) sports a medium ruby color to go with terrific notes of black cherries, strawberries, candied orange rind, peppery herbs and mint. It's medium to full-bodied, elegant and seamless on the palate, with solid fruit and ripe tannin. It's a beautiful wine to enjoy over the coming decade as well. This is another solid lineup by Jason Haas’ Tablas Creek, which is in the northern part of Paso Robles. The 2014s are charming and forward, with the 2015s showing the more elegant, silky style of the vintage. Haas commented that the vines were tired in 2015 and stressed by the alternating hot/cold cycles that persisted throughout the year. while yields were lower in 2015, there was no pressure to harvest, which allowed them to do multiple passes and picks through each site.

Glass-staining ruby. Sexy, mineral-tinged red berry preserve and floral pastille scents are complemented by suggestions of star anise and woodsmoke. Seamless, expansive and sweet, offering deeply concentrated raspberry, cherry compote and spicecake flavors that are underscored and lifted by juicy acidity. Shows excellent clarity and energy on the finish, which features sneaky tannins and a suave candied lavender quality. I'd have guessed that the percentage of Grenache was higher here.
