A blend of 43% Grenache, 27% Mourvèdre, 18% Syrah, 6% Counoise and 6% Tannat, the 2022 En Gobelet comes from the head-trained, dry-farmed blocks at Tablas Creek and admirably combines poise, nuance, complexity and harmony. The nose is immediately alluring with a deft, ethereal quality and continuously gains depth in the glass. The palate offers a gorgeous, poised texture and fantastic concentration without an ounce of excess weight. The finish is intense, sturdy and structured, swelling in amplitude and dimension. This is a beautiful example of understated intensity, and I suspect it will evolve beautifully in the cellar.

A dark-fruited and earthy nose of wild blackberries, mulberries and cassia bark. The palate is medium-bodied with firm yet integrated tannins and notes of red currants, bramble berries and orange zest. Minerally, saline finish. Very well integrated with polished tannins. 43% grenache, 27% mourvedre, 18% syrah, 6% counoise and 6% tannat. Drink or hold.

The 2022 En Gobelet is distinctly savory and intense. Earth tones and grilled herbs combine with blackberries and wilted violets. It is surprisingly juicy and energetic. Crisp red and blue fruits swirl throughout while taking on a touch of lavender and hints of baking spice toward the close. While tannic, the 2022 holds onto freshness, finishing remarkably clean and long with a liquid flowery concentration that adds tension. This is a more forward En Gobelet, yet no less complex or age-worthy.
