From an old, ungrafted plot planted more than 110 years ago and whose vines average 80 to 90 years old, according to Egon Müller IV, the 2018 Scharzhofberger Kabinett Alte Reben AP #3 (Auction) displays a clear and stunningly upfront, peach-fruity nose with delicate flinty and herbal notes. The palate is lush, crystalline, piquant and salty, with a clear and aromatic apricot and nectarine flavor and the finesse and lingering salinity of the Scharzhofberg. Filigreed but substantial and almost dry in taste. Tasted in June 2019.
