Tasting notes
Good bright, deep red. Cassis, blackberry and black cherry on the fruit-driven nose. The crumbly calcaire rock under clay gives the wine a strong mineral character, as it's easy for the roots to nourish themselves, notes Arlaud. A soft, silky, nicely balanced midweight with purple fruit flavors accented by mineral traces and framed by well-integrated acidity. Finishes with surprising energy and length; slightly drying tannins build but a floral element gives the wine a light touch.

The 2014 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru les Sentiers, which contains 15% whole bunch fruit and matured in 25% new oak, has a harmonious bouquet with sous-bois-tinged red berry fruit, nonchalant and effortless in style. The palate is nicely structured with mint-tinged red and black fruit, harmonious and supple in the mouth with an almost candied sweetness conveyed on the finish. This is a commendable Les Sentiers to enjoy over the next 10-12 years.
