The 2012 Chambolle Musigny Les Borniques 1er Cru has a lovely, quite complex bouquet with crisp red cherries, bergamot, tea leaves and sous-bois scents that displays impressive intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with supple but quite strict tannins that lend this focus and depth, the finish demonstrating a savory tincture that should become more pronounced with continued bottle age. Excellent.

Bright medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of musky strawberry and raspberry accented by lavender. Highly aromatic in the mouth, offering a suppler texture than the Baudes but very good precision to its red berry, coriander and cumin flavors. Turns a bit drier on the back end, finishes with serious dusty tannins. Ultimately less complex and long than the Baudes.
Saturated bright, dark red. Reticent, rather sullen aromas of black raspberry, cherry and menthol; distinctly closed and medicinal. Then tight and saline on the palate, showing more rocky character than primary fruits today. Boasts excellent cut, but the building tannins are a bit youthfully tough and will require at least four or five years of bottle aging.
