Tasting notes
Seavey's 2019 Merlot is varietally pure and aged 20 months in 40% new French oak. There's a slightly smoky nose, with softly herbal nuances, a hint of grilled tomato and ripe black cherries on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is silky and easy to drink.

I always enjoy Seavey’s Merlot, and while rarely profound, it’s always classic Merlot goodness and a joy to drink. The 2019 Merlot gives up lots of ripe black cherry, leafy herbs, and graphite in a medium-bodied, round, utterly delicious style. Coming from the Seavey estate vineyard and aged 20 months in 40% new French oak, it’s an outstanding example of quality Napa Valley Merlot. Drink bottles over the coming decade. 473 cases.
The 2019 Merlot is fabulous. It offers a beguiling combination of rich Merlot fruit and the savory/mineral inflections that are typical of the Seavey wines. I especially admire the aromatic complexity here. This potent, structured Merlot is a huge overachiever. And it is absolutely delicious, too.
