Tasting notes
A barrel selection, the 2017 Grenache 1/1, containing 7% Syrah, has a distinctive personality, pleasantly rustic but bright. Medium ruby, the nose offers dried berries, charcuterie, blood orange, powdered sugar and touches of olive, leather and stewed tea. The silky, medium-bodied palate is bright and spicy with great freshness, finishing with just a touch of anchoring texture. Only 50 cases were made.

Mostly Grenache blended with 7% Syrah, the 2017 1/1 Grenache is another exotic wine from this estate that has lots of mulberry and currant fruits as well as notes of peppery herbs, gamey meats, spice, and leather. Playing in the medium to full-bodied end of the spectrum, it has a seamless texture, slightly firm yet ripe tannins, good balance, and outstanding length. Give it a year or two.
The 2017 Grenache 1/1 is a single barrel of the best Grenache in the cellar, in this case from Alisos Canyon. Sweet red cherry fruit and floral aromatics race out of the glass. Rich, exotically ripe and voluptuous, the 2017 has a lot going on. This is a decidedly sumptuous style, and it works so well.
