Score 89/100 · Drink 2019-2022, Neal Martin

The 1975 La Croix de Gay from magnum has a broody, more introspective nose compared to earlier vintages with tertiary aromas of leather, cooked meats and a touch of iron rust, but it begins to open up with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a harmonious entry, good acidity and gentle but insistent grip in the mouth. Quite typical of a 1975 Pomerol, this is masculine and a little saline with a slightly austere finish. I would drink this sooner rather than later. Tasted June 2011. Tasting note taken from the Pomerol book by Neal Martin.
