Score 87/100 · Drink 2004-2009, Pierre Rovani, Aug 2001

Five thousand cases were produced of the medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Pinot Noir Premier Cuvee. This red fruit and plum-scented wine is medium to full-bodied, satin-textured, and offers loads of cherries and blueberries in its spicy personality. Its finish is highly structured and somewhat tannic, yet it appears to have the requisite density of fruit to offset this trait. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2009. Tel. (503) 864-4300.

Bright dark red. Open-knit aromas of raspberry, cherry, mint, underbrush and sexy oak. Sweet, silky and dense, with fat flavors of raspberry and strawberry and a strong new oak component. Finishes with even, dusty tannins and oak tones that became dominant with aeration.
