Score 89/100 · Drink 2014-2019, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Feb 2014

The 2012 Pinot Noir Whistler Vineyard stands out for its supple, accessible personality. There is good complexity to the dark red stone fruit flavors, but I don't see enough depth or concentration to warrant holding the 2012 for more than a few years. Hints of sweet tobacco, mint, spice and new leather inform the pretty finish.

Made from old California clones, the light to medium-bodied 2012 Pinot Noir Whistler displays a generic Cote de Beaune character with notes of underbrush, forest floor, pomegranate and sweet cherries. This pretty Pinot will offer delicious drinking over the next 3-5 years. This is the personal project of Ehren Jordan, who was the long-time apprentice at Turley Cellars. These are all elegant, cool climate, finesse-styled wines that were obviously influenced by European rather than New World models. Jordan owns estate vineyards in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA and purchased fruit from some of the top growers in that region. Tel. (707) 963-0530
