Score 99/100 · Drink 2013-2033, Robert Parker, Nov 2013

At 16.5 % alcohol this is one of the highest octane Chardonnays Brewer Clifton ever made, but the wine is so much more than its high alcohol content. Reminiscent of great Batard Montrachet, with buttered citrus, caramelized tropical fruits, and hints of caramel and wet gravel, it exhibits extraordinary intensity, a full-bodied mouthfeel and terrific acidity as well as freshness. This is the paradox of the growing season in the Santa Rita viticulture region. The finish lasts for 40-45 seconds. This 2006 should turn out to be one of the all-time great Chardonnays made from California’s Central Coast. It is capable of lasting 15-20+ years.
