Notes of blue fruits, violets, wild strawberries, and scorched earth emerge from the 2015 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard, and this deep ruby/purple-tinged colored 2015 has a silky, elegant, yet punchy style on the palate. It certainly has some charm today, yet I suspect it’s going to be even better with 2-3 years in the cellar. This is another estate making a distinctly vibrant, fresh style of wine that’s going to appeal to the Burgundy lovers out there. It’s an incredibly educational tasting going through all these different single vineyards from Ted Lemon and these are interesting, singular wines. As a whole, the 2015s shows slightly more oomph compared to the 2016s, yet both vintages have vibrant acidity and balanced profiles. As expected, quantities are slightly up in 2016.

The 2015 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard is pliant, supple and beautifully perfumed, with all of the allure it showed from barrel. Plush and dense on the palate, the 2015 is arrestingly beautiful today. The big, potent tannins are nearly buried by the sheer resonance of the fruit. This is an especially dense, virile expression of Platt. I imagine it will develop beautifully in bottle fore many years to come. Littorai's 2015 captures all the pedigree that has made Platt one of the most highly regarded sites on the Sonoma Coast.

Black cherry, plum, licorice, violet and menthol are some of the many notes that infuse the 2015 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard. The high number of shot berries contribute to what is an unusually dark, virile vintage for the Platt. The tannins are every bit as intense in the fruit in this dramatic, large-scaled Pinot. Gevrey-like tones of dark fruit leave a lasting impression. A wine of almost shocking density and richness, the 2015 should drink well for many years.
