Tasting notes
A lovely combination of raspberries, black cherries, forest floor, and subtle wood emerges from this dark ruby-colored wine. Excellent ripeness and purity as well as an overall savory mouthfeel result in a plush, sensual Pinot Noir to enjoy over the next 4-5 years. Tel. (707) 265-7700; Fax (707) 265-7708

(15.2% alcohol; the other pinots all say 14.2% on the label) Good deep ruby-red. Sappy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, pepper, smoked meat, dark chocolate and earth (Hall describes the nose as "brownies with baked walnuts"). Hugely sweet and deep, with a sappy quality to the fruit and complicating notes of pepper, herbs and spices. This has the lush texture, size and weight of a Burgundy grand cru. I would have scored it even higher but for a slight alcoholic warmth.
