Score 91/100 · Drink 2010-2016, Robert Parker, Feb 2010

From a well-known site in the Santa Lucia Highlands, the 2007 Pinot Noir Pisoni Vineyard exhibits lots of blueberry, smoke, raspberry, apple skin, forest floor, and rhubarb characteristics as well as very good acidity and medium body. Not quite the powerhouse of some of its peers, it is a delicious Pinot to consume over the next 4-6 years. For the past twenty years, Patz and Hall has been one of California's finest negociant firms, accessing top quality fruit and vinifying and bottling their wines with minimal intervention. The following efforts represent the finest wines I have tasted from them in many years. Tel. (877) 265-6700

Bright red-ruby. Crushed cherry, dark raspberry, spices and mocha on the nose, all lifted by a floral topnote. Densely packed, sappy and sweet, with a distinct Burgundian complexity to the flavors of red fruits, spices and underbrush. This has sexier fruit than the 2006 version, not to mention complex soil tones. A serious, layered pinot that finishes with firm tannic spine for aging.
