Score 90/100 · Drink 2016-2028, Robert Parker, Dec 2014

The 2012 Pinot Noir Umino (200 cases produced) exhibits sweet plum, raspberry and black cherry fruit, medium to full body, a fleshy, opulent mid-palate, and a long, pure, well-endowed finish. It should be close to full maturity in 2-3 years and last for 10-12.

Good deep ruby-red. Black cherry, loamy underbrush and high-pitched exotic spices on the nose and palate. Creamy-sweet and highly concentrated. More of a fruit bomb than the sharply focused, perfumed 2011 release but Bill Hunter assured me that in spite of this wine's impression of sucrosite, it finished with less than two grams per liter of residual sugar. Hunter normally does a pre-fermentation cold soak lasting four or five days.
