Tasting notes
All Merlot, the 2010 Girolamo seems to have absorbed all the extra sunshine of the vintage. The bouquet is redolent of ripe strawberry, blackberry preserves and sweet baking spice that feel a little heavy-footed and one-dimensional. Girolamo is one of the best expressions of the grape from central Italy. Although this wine is finely crafted, I can’t say this is my favorite vintage.

A drop-dead gorgeous beauty, the 2010 Merlot Girolamo impresses for its voluptuous, layered personality. Iron, smoke and leather add distinct elements of Sangiovese-infused aromas and flavors. The combination of Merlot generosity plus structure of the year and appellation is incredibly appealing. The 2010 impresses for the sheer integrity and purity of its fruit. Sweet floral and spiced notes add complexity on the finish. This is another superb wine from Castello di Bossi.
