Tasting notes
The 2019 Petite Syrah Palisades Vineyard is a fabulous wine from this Calistoga site. Mike Officer has done a tremendous job in crafting a wine that offers tons of varietal and vineyard character, but without the tannic heft that can make young Petite so forbidding. The 2019 is captivating in every way. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mocha, earthiness, gravel and juniper berry are some of the many nuances that open over time.

The 2019 Petite Sirah Palisades Vineyard is a big, youthful, unevolved, uber-ripe effort with loads of dark, chocolatey fruit, notes of crushed stone and graphite, full body, lots of ripe, powerful tannins, and a great finish. It couldn't get much better for a steakhouse red, and this big, lusty, mouthful of a Petite Sirah should have a solid 7-8 years of prime drinking.
