Tasting notes
The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Element 28 is a soft, open-knit wine to drink now and over the next handful of years, while the succulent red cherry, plum and spice flavors remain youthful and vibrant. This is an especially laid-back, mid-weight style for the vintage. I expected a little bit more here. Perhaps I caught the Element 28 going through a sullen stage.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Element 28 is a beautiful wine that has a lifted, perfumed character. Loads of flowers, violets, and underbrush notes, as well as an attractive core of blue fruits, flow to a medium to full-bodied, seamless, elegant red that has juicy acidity, fine tannin, impeccable balance, and a great finish. With no hard edges and a fresh focused style, it can be drunk today or cellared for 15-20 years.
Deep garnet-purple, Nickel and Nickel's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Element 28 opens with crushed black currants, blackberries and dried mint notes with touches of fragrant earth, cigar box and cloves. Full-bodied, rich and sexy in the mouth with firm, grainy tannins supporting the voluptuous fruit, it finishes long and spicy.
The nose is unique here with redcurrants, dark red plums, blueberry essence, jasmine, cloves, spices and a touch of vanilla with some herbal complexity below. The palate is also full of fascinating forest fruits, framed by firm, structured tannins, fresh acidity and a fruity finish. Drink now.
