Tasting notes
The Zampatti vineyard, located in Santa Rosa, was planted in 1915 to Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, Palomina and Golden Chasselas. Medium to deep ruby-purple in color, the 2017 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard opens with candied peach, warm cinnamon and cracked black pepper with licorice hints over a core of crushed black cherries and berries, blueberries, warm red cherries and even cranberry sauce—this has lovely tricolored fruit and exotic spice layers. Medium to full-bodied, it's wonderfully concentrated and spicy in the mouth with loads of flavor layers, fine, grainy tannins and mind-bending juicy acidity, finishing very long and very layered. Wow! 150 cases were made.

Bold and spectacularly rich, the 2017 Zinfandel Zampatti Vineyard is a total stunner. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, spice, lavender and rose petal race across the palate in a stunningly vivid, vibrant wine that dazzles from start to finish. A touch of white grapes in this field blend add aromatic nuance. Sadly, yields are down 50%. Don't miss it. (AG)
