The 2017 Ritual Heritage Blend is made up of 37% Grenache, 27% Syrah, 27% Carignane and 9% Petite Sirah. The Grenache comes from the Frediani vineyard, the Syrah from the Phoenix Ranch vineyard and the Carignane and Petite Sirah are from organic, dry-farmed vines at the Alfred Frediani vineyard, planted in 1901 and 1939. The wine aged for 20 months in neutral French oak barrels and puncheons with minimal racking. Deep garnet-purple colored, it gives up flamboyant notes of baked cherries, blackberry pie and dried mulberries with hints of cigar box, spice box and charcuterie. Full-bodied, rich and expressive, the palate has a velvety texture and lovely freshness, finishing long and spicy. 257 cases produced.
