Tasting notes
Youthful purple color. Assertively perfumed dark berry preserve, violet oil, smoky mineral, incense and olive scents show sharp delineation and emphatic spicy lift. Offers palate-staining blackberry, bitter cherry and floral pastille flavors that steadily deepen and spread out through the mid-palate. Distinctly rich but energetic as well, with a strikingly long finish that features round, polished tannins and insistent floral and exotic spice qualities.

The 2017 Ones Syrah is made from 100% Syrah aged in 100% new French oak. It has a very deep ruby-purple color, and the nose explodes to cassis, boysenberry and blueberry jam, baked blackberries and black cherries, with nuances of violets, loamy earth, grilled meats, mint chocolate, bay leaves, cigar box and cedar. The palate is full-bodied, rich and slowly unfurls to exotically spiced black and blue fruits. It has a firm but velvety texture and great freshness, finishing very long and layered. Wow! Only 50 cases were made.
A selection of the two top barrels of Syrah, the 2017 Syrah Ones was all destemmed and brought up in new oak. Its deep ruby/blue color is followed by an Hermitage-like bouquet of blue fruits, crushed rocks, violets, and graphite. It's beautifully concentrated, full-bodied, has building tannins, and an incredible sense of minerality. This is a brilliant, brilliant Syrah.
