Tasting notes
A blend of 90% Syrah with 6% Grenache and 4% Viognier, the 2017 Syrah 1/1 has a medium ruby color and a shy nose with hints of blackberries, dried violets, licorice and graphite. The medium to full-bodied palate surprises with its bright, perfumed berry fruits and juicy pops of freshness, and it finishes long and layered. 50 cases were made.

The 2017 Syrah 1/1 is one of the most tightly wound wines in the range. Here the flavor profile leans towards the redder end of the Syrah spectrum. In tasting, the 2017 feels a bit compact, its considerable richness notwithstanding. It will be interesting to see if more flesh develops in bottle. The floral aromatics, enhanced by dollops of Grenache and Viognier in the blend, are intriguing and promising.
