The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon GTS bristles with energy and tension, both unusual qualities for the year. Rose petals, bright red plums, spices and mint are some of the many notes that jump from the glass. The 2012 impresses for its balance and harmony. This is easily one of the best Cabernets I have tasted from Tom Seaver and his winemaker, Thomas Rivers Brown. (AG)

(100% cabernet sauvignon, from vines planted at an altitude of 1,400 to 1,500 feet): Bright medium ruby. Currant, coffee and mocha on the musky nose, along with suggestions of superripe fruits and pepper. Suave and smooth, with a currant flavor accented by a hint of leafiness. Finishes with smooth, building tannins that are nicely supported by the wine's baby fat. Already showing plenty of personality. (ST)

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon GTS is endowed with serious power and depth. Graphite, crushed rocks, iron, tar and scorched earth are some of the many notes that jump from the glass in this powerful, super-extroverted wine. The 2010 is huge, savory and intense. Layers of dark fruit cover every inch of the palate as the 2010 shows off its considerable personality. This is a terrific showing. (AG)

Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver and his wife Nancy own this three-acre vineyard on Diamond Mountain. Thomas Rivers Brown is the winemaker. The GTS spends 18 months in French oak barrels, 80% new. The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon GTS is big, rich and textured in its dark red fruit, flowers and mint. Silky tannins frame the perfumed fruit through to the finessed finish. The 2009 boasts gorgeous inner perfume and fabulous overall balance. It is far more approachable today than the 2010 tasted alongside it.
