The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is all varietal and comes from the Red Mountain AVA. This vivid purple beauty boasts a killer bouquet of cassis, spring flowers, graphite, and earth. More vibrant, fresh, and lively than previous vintages, it still has terrific concentration, ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It's one of the finest vintages of this cuvée that I can remember. It's brilliant today yet should evolve for 20 years or more.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain opens with fresh, ripe and dusty red fruit tones with an underlying mineral expression that walks the line between earthy and juicy before wafting with elegant florals that lift the nose with seductive oak tones. Medium to full-bodied, the Cabernet has focus, power and finesse while showing succulent acidity with an earthy mineral tension that sways with firm gripping tannins. The palate is balanced and concludes with a focused, spicy finish that will be food-friendly upon release. The wine aged for almost two years in about 75% new French oak. This will be released in September 2024. Mark your calendars now to get ahold of any of the 9,504 bottles produced.

There's a cool-toned freshness to the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, as it dazzles the senses with a darkly alluring mix of black currant, exotic spice, hints of sage and sweet tobacco. This is texturally deep, with plush red and blue fruits complicated by saline-mineral tones, as a bitter hint of dark chocolate emerges toward the close. The 2019 lingers impossibly long, both potent and structured, yet also balanced, with hints of lavender and citrus-tinged blackberry that slowly taper off. Truly classic in style, this Red Mountain Cabernet is refined for 23 months in 74% new French oak barriques. However, readers will need to be patient, as the 2019 won’t be released until 2024.
